The Siemens CALOMAT 6 is a continuous thermal conductivity gas analyzer for quantitative measurement of hydrogen H₂ or helium He in binary or quasi-binary gas mixtures. It uses a micromechanical silicon sensor that detects differences in thermal conductivity between the measured component and the background gas.
Measuring spans start as low as 0 to 1% H₂ in nitrogen. Configurable ranges extend up to 100 vol.% depending on the application. Suppressed zero ranges, such as 95 to 100% H₂, are also available.
Key applications:
- Hydrogen purity monitoring in gas production
- Protective and forming gas monitoring
- Hydrogen monitoring in blast furnace and converter gases
- Turbo-generator cooling gas supervision
- Chemical process applications involving H₂, He, Ar, CO₂, or CH₄
The analyzer provides four configurable measuring ranges with automatic or manual range switching. It includes internal correction options for cross-interference and supports 4 to 20 mA outputs, digital I/O, and RS 485 communication, with optional PROFIBUS connectivity. Both 19-inch rack and field-mounted versions are available, including hazardous area configurations.
